OUR SERVICES
Paediatric Hearing Testing

Our paediatric audiologists are experts in the
audiological diagnostics of hearing problems in children aged
12 months and over.
Assessment
Audiologists assess a child’s
hearing using a range of age appropriate tests.
Behavioural tests involve
conditioning young children to respond to presented sounds
using play (e.g., looking for a puppet/toy to appear once a
sound is presented, or placing a peg in a board etc.).
Children developmentally younger than 9 months of age are
assessed using noisemakers. For children 3 years of age or
older ear specific adult-like procedures are used with
headphones over the ears.
In addition to determining a
child’s hearing levels, paediatric audiologists will also
assess each child’s middle ear status using tympanometry.
Young children (particularly those younger than 7 years of
age) are more susceptible to middle ear problems (often
referred to as glue ear) as their middle ear systems are still
developing.
Diagnosis and Follow Up
We understand the wide-ranging implications of
hearing impairment on a child’s speech, language, educational
and social development. Depending on the diagnosis we are able
to refer your child to a relevant specialists such as speech
language pathologists, GPs, Ear Nose and Throat Surgeons and
Paediatricians to assist in early treatment and resolution of
presenting concerns.
Adult Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations

|
Assessment
Adult hearing assessment
will typically include Pure Tone Audiometry, where hearing is
assessed under the headphones in a sound treated environment
to determine the hearing thresholds (softest sound audible to
a patient). This is done through both air and bone conduction
(various types of headphones designed to identify
sensorineural (nerve), conductive (middle ear) or mixed
losses.) Frequently this procedure is accompanied by tympanometry, to confirm the middle ear status as well as
speech discrimination testing to evaluate the impact of loss
and confirm accuracy of results.
Diagnosis and Follow Up
Depending on the diagnosis we
may recommend monitoring services (reviewing and comparing
changes in hearing over time), a referral to a relevant
specialist for treatment such as GP, ENT Surgeon etc. or
fitting of hearing aids and/or Assistive Listening Devices.
Additional time will be allocated to discuss all necessary
facets of hearing rehabilitation to inform you in the best
possible way. We encourage to bring your partner or relative
with you to this appointment. If your hearing loss is to be
corrected through hearing aids - we will discuss all
available, audiologically appropriate options and assist you
in selecting the hearing aid that is right for you...

Electroacoustic
Fitting and Verification
We utilize a wide range of sophisticated
electroacoustic fitting equipment and in-depth audiological
knowledge to set the hearing instrument to best reflect your
hearing requirements. All the outcomes are verified in both the
clinical and real life settings and day to day care and
maintenance of hearing aids you've selected is discussed and
practiced.
Follow
Up and Fine tuning
We routinely request that you return to
discuss your hearing aid-corrected hearing in light of real life
experiences and the aids are fine tuned to reflect your comments
and requests. Once the aids are optimally tuned our relationship
does not end - we are available to support you and to maintain
your new hearing instruments to ensure best possible hearing
outcomes.
High
Fidelity Musician's Ear Plugs

Musician ear plugs
are designed to replicate the natural response of the open ear.
Sound heard with these earplugs has the same quality as the
original, only quieter. The result is that speech and music are
clear--you still hear the blend clearly, feel the bass, and
distinguish each tone.
Accurate sound reduction is achieved by combining a patented
filter with the specific acoustics of a custom ear mould.
The combination of the two produces a resonance at
approximately 2700 Hz (as in the normal ear) resulting in a
smooth, flat attenuation.
Hocks Noise Breakers

The
Hocks Noise Braker is an acoustic filter that adjusts all
incoming sound to appropriate speech levels. While most
hearing protection seals off the ear, effectively blocking
any sound from entering, this high frequency noise filter
lets air and sound through in a safe, effective way.
As a result, the wearer can communicate freely and remain
aware of the surrounding environment.
